Fourth Stream Activities

FourthStream.net, LLC will once again be producing the Driftless Jazz Festival in 2008.

See details about last year's fest at this link: Driftless Jazz Festival 2007 This local and regionally focused festival celebrates the music being made in this area of Wisconsin, known as the Driftless Region.

One of the artist groups working within FourthStream.net is "Project Fourth Stream" : the brainchild of composer William Neil and saxophonist Tom Gullion, Project Fourth Stream is the logical extension to the synthesis of composed and improvised music. In the recent past, Gunther Schuller made significant strides fusing classical compositional techniques with jazz. Theintention, however, is to approach this music from the perspective where the composition serves to enhance the improvisation.

Dec 14-16: Project FourthStream is at the ISIM Conference along with Jane Ira Bloom, the AACM, Oliver Lake and other distinguished improvisers!
